What is Tot Health?
In-person, GP-led, newborn, baby and child health courses in the comfort of your own home.
Tot Health empowers parents with practical health knowledge for the first five years
As parents we are inundated with information and most of it can seem conflicting or not helpful.
Tot Health is designed to equip Gloucestershire parents and caregivers with enough child health knowledge to be able to confidently and appropriately deal with the most common health problems in the under fives.
The GP-led teaching, developed with input from paediatric A&E consultants and speciality paediatric doctors, covers the most up-to-date advice on the whole spectrum of health problems that your tot can throw at you.
The 2.5 hour in-person course takes place in the convenience of your own home or local venue (within the GL postcode areas) and we have a range of availablity, including evenings and weekends, so the course can fit into busy family life.
The Tot Health course content pages below give an outline of what is covered. But if you have more than one tot, or you aren’t sure if the course will meet your needs, please feel free to contact; our aim is for the course to be as useful as possible.

What parents are saying
I was quite clueless when it came to newborn illnesses or first aid and knew I needed to learn more before our twins were born.
After our Tot Health session I feel so much more prepared for their arrival! In an informal and relaxed setting, Alex provided a wide range of information and practical tips, including who to escalate concerns to. I’d recommend this to all expectant parents!

Alex’s course was incredibly helpful. She shared her medical expertise in such a clear and approachable way, helping us understand the most common conditions that can affect newborns and how to recognise when it’s time to call the GP or escalate to 999.
Before this course, we’d been so focused on labour, baby clothes and the usual prep, we hadn’t really considered some of the practical things — like what to have in the medicine cabinet or how to spot early signs of illness. These topics just weren’t covered in our previous antenatal classes, but we now realise are essential.
The session was relaxed, informative, and completely judgment-free. No question was too silly, and Alex made us feel comfortable asking anything.
It was particularly reassuring to learn from someone who is both a doctor and a mum — she brings a really valuable perspective from both sides.
She also emphasised the importance of trusting our instincts and advocating for our child. We would 100% recommend Alex’s course. It’s a rare opportunity to have calm, focused time learning from someone so knowledgeable. We’re keen to attend the next course she mentioned for the six-month stage and beyond.

An invaluable course for any parent of babies or young children. Even as someone expecting my third child, I learned a great deal and now feel much more prepared and confident going into the newborn stage again, especially should any illnesses or emergencies occur.
Alex was incredibly thorough in what she covered—clear, reassuring, and never overwhelming. She thoughtfully tailored the session to focus more on the areas I felt less confident about and took the time to answer all my many questions.
I loved her clear handout guide and the traffic light system, which will now become my “go-to bible” for all things health-related when it comes to my children. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alex’s course—thank you, Alex!
